Helpful Websites

Here are a few websites that I use regularly in my classroom to help my students.
The first two sites, my students can access these from home as well as school for additional reading and math practice. The last site is a great tool for both teachers and parents.

This website is great to for students to practice their reading skills.  This site allows teachers to put all of their students current reading levels into the computer and students can practice reading books that are written for their specific level.  Students can also answer questions about each book which tests their comprehension skills.  I really like how I can go into this site and track my students progress as they move through their leveled readers.

This website is great for grades K-8 to practice math.  iXL is a math website that is aligned with state standards that allows students to practice and enhance their math skills.  Teachers can load their student rosters and keep track of how students are progressing and what skills that they are practicing.  This website is great for students to use both in the classroom and at home.

This website is great for both teachers and parents to find specific reading levels for specific titles of books.  I use this website in my classroom on a weekly basis as I am always acquiring new books for my classroom library.  One great thing about this site is that It allows you to select the leveling system that you use in your classroom, it does not just support one system.  In order to find a specific level of a book, after you select your leveling system, you simply type in the title of the book and hit search.  This site also allows you to store preferred book lists and to also search for books based on a specific level.
